Though not sold by this company, the furniture does accommodate cushions and umbrellas in the standard sizes. The company guarantees their products for 35 years against structural integrity.

Kohestan is a furniture company that manufactures a line of recycled plastic and Envirowood patio furniture.

One of the most common types of recycled plastic is called High Density Polyethylene or HDPE. Typically plastic “timber” is made from about 95% the recycled plastic known as HDPE, 5% is comprised of color, a foaming agent and UV stabilizer. Because of its density, HDPE weighs approximately 20% more than cedar, so you don’t have to worry about anything being blown away. HDPE is a flexible plastic that will not crack, break, splinter, or break down due stress or extremes of hot and cold, there for there is no need to store the furniture during adverse weather conditions. It is virtually maintenance free and comes in many different colors that will never need to be repainted.

Most people consider recycling as a means of disposal. We need to keep in mind the whole purpose and that is to use again. There is an astonishing amount of companies that are making new thing out of recycled plastics. We need to embrace these products to help relieve some stress of the natural environment. There is sustainable furniture made from recycled plastics that are good if not better than some of their wooden counterparts. You never know what products are waiting for you that are environmentally friendly and stylish.

You will find some of the finest non-polluting and non-toxic stains, finishes, sealers, and paints from AFM Safecoat. The health of Safecoat’s customers as well as the environment is the driving force behind this company. Not only are these products safe for you they also create a shield on the surface where applied. They provide eco-friendly paint with traditional finishes like eggshell, semi-gloss, and satin.

Greenfeet is a company that knows we pollute the environment everyday. They are working to combat issues little by little, one person at a time. They are active in local communities as well as contributing worldwide. Greenfeet offers a range of products including kitchenware, hemp products, and sustainable furniture. I suggest the bamboo Boutique line mane from sustainable materials.

The graphics on Billboards on the side of the road are printed on huge plastic vinyl sheets. Relan is a company that is recycling this abundant material. They make bags out of waterproof, tear resistant plastic that was meant to withstand the elements outdoors. Because billboards come with many things printed on them, the bags have an array of designs, none exactly the same from the next. The Relan lunchsack is one of my favorite products made by this environmentally friendly company.

Sun & Earth Products is a company geared towards clean and the environment. They produce eco-safe, non-toxic cleaners for dishes, laundry, and surfaces. They make their products from naturally derived renewal sources. These cleaners will not leave chemical residue or odor lingering about your household.

Due to the aging of the wood by time, the reclaimed wood from around the world is stronger than any modern produced hardwood. There are many companies in the United States that sell reclaimed hardwood for use in kitchen cabinetry, construction, decoration, flooring, siding, and sustainable furniture.

True artisans are taking this reclaimed wood and designing it into sustainable furniture for the home and office. This is a process that because of the uniqueness of each piece the process must be undertaken with care, skill, and thought. The end result is not only amazing but also historical. Reclaiming wood from old buildings includes physically extracting the material from the site. Any nails, screws, or foreign objects must be removed. Finally each piece is carefully inspected individually; this will determine the next product it will be made into according to condition, shape, size, and color.

Be careful when purchasing sustainable furniture made form reclaimed wood, due to the high demand sometimes people try to pass off new wood as reclaimed. Sustainable furniture made form reclaimed wood is usually more expensive due to the process related to this industry.

This industry takes much strain off the harvested forests around the world because it utilizes raw materials that are not newly produced, preserving biodiversity and natural rescores. Much of the reclaimed used for sustainable furniture wood was originally taken from old growth forests, the most durable and desired type of timber, which is not harvested today through sustainable forestry. These forests thrived for thousands of years and the trees grew to unthinkable heights, weathered by rain, snow, and the sun.

//

Forest plantations that produce wood used to make sustainable furniture are areas of land that is set aside for production purposes. Land use is designed within a strategically plan as to quickly yield the greatest harvest possible. Every few years the cycle of planting, growth, and harvest is repeated. This type of model provides more jobs to local workers as the plantations expand.

Forest plantations are intended to supply wood now and provide for future demands, sustaining communities in the process. The higher the demand for items such as sustainable furniture increases revenue for the plantations. The dedicated management will be able put additional proceeds from sustainable furniture into expanding plantation forests. Sequentially this will extending production plans and societies will thrive. There are multiple situations that the future of plantations that produce wood for sustainable furniture face. Best case outcome would be if the quantity produced and consumed every year increases steadily.
