Google the online search engine and multimillion dollar company is helping to build a greener future. Google has covered the rooftops of eight building at the Googleplex CA headquarters with solar panels. This solution relieves stress off of the power infrastructure while reducing pollution by a fraction. Google has recently launched a new program called Renewable Energy Cheaper Than Coal, or RE Less-than C for short. Google is also working on more affordable and more efficient technologies in geothermal, wind, and solar powers.

One of the easiest ways to cut your energy bill is by replacing your existing light bulbs with compact fluorescent light bulbs. I am talking about the ones with the spiral shaped design. These CFLs will not only draw less energy, they will also last longer than regular light bulbs. You should use them in every room in the house, and for outdoor fixtures if possible. You can pick up CFLs at any many convenient locations including Walmart, Target, or The Home Depot, but check out the Pluman project for something truly different.

USB Cell is an innovative product that is eco-friendly. Rechargeable batteries are not a new idea, but this product charges when plugged into a USB port on any computer. The USB Cell looks like a normal AA, the neon top flips off exposing a USB plug. Offered in a variety of sizes, the USB Cell will run any normal electronic, but eliminate the waste of batteries that get thrown away after one use.

Much of the reclaimed used for sustainable furniture wood was originally taken from old growth forests, the most durable and desired type of timber, which is not harvested today through sustainable forestry. These forests thrived for thousands of years and the trees grew to unthinkable heights, weathered by rain, snow, and the sun.

Sustainable Furniture from Whyr’hymer is not only graceful but also eco-friendly. Materials are exclusively plantation grown, FSC certified, or are reclaimed. Their classy designs incorporate some of the most wonderful wood in sustainable furniture such as tables, chairs, and beds. Whyr’hymer also produces the most eye pleasing light fixtures made from all natural sustainable materials. A percentage from all sustainable furniture sold by Whyr’hymer is donated to charities that are working to improve environmental issues worldwide.

When shopping for plantation grown sustainable furniture Westminster Teak is a company you must see. They incorporate modern designs in their sustainable furniture. Their product line includes tables, chairs, bar furniture, and teak shelving. The Aria rocking chair is one of my favorite from this company, simple, modern, and sustainable.

Rock World designs of sustainable furniture made from plantation grown high quality teak are simple yet elegant. The all natural teak wood is grown on plantations in Indonesia. Rock World manufactures exceptional sustainable furniture, the use of mortise and tenon joinery help to create strength. All products cover an inclusive warrantee. They produce many styles of tables and chairs. My favorite bar height stool is the Mendocino Rotating Bar Stood with back support and arm rests. Aside from dining they also have sustainable furniture such as sofas, love seats, and coffee tables.

If you like Asian style sustainable furniture you are going to want to check out Tansu. Tansu uses plantation grown materials and reclaimed wood to build sturdy products. They have sustainable furniture for the bedroom, living room, dining room, and outdoors. You will find the most amazing beds, coffee tables, and bookcases. One of my favorite is the Buddha Bookcase, featuring three drawers at the base; it has an open curved design that is a real eye catcher.

Pacific Green is a unique company with an environmentally friendly way to make sustainable furniture. The plan includes using Palmwood in sustainable furniture. During the 1900 there was a large amount of palm trees planted in the South Pacific for a means of local sustainability. Over the years, through industry, these palm tree plantations became obsolete. In steps Pacific Green, view these resources as an alternative to harvesting our old growth and rain forests.
